Stuart Teekasingh, born in 1988 in Calgary Alberta Canada, is a contemporary artist and celebrated tattooist known for their large scale tattooing and introspective, expressive paintings.
They earned a diploma in Applied and Graphic Design from the Vancouver Art Institute and have built a multidisciplinary career that spans fine art, tattooing, and mural work. They co-founded the NEST gallery initiative, which provides exhibition opportunities for underrepresented artists in Calgary in 2023 and manage and operate a collective tattoo space called The Burrow hosting several of Calgarys top tattooists.
In 2023, after a decade of focus solely on tattooing, Stuart chose to pursue fine art as a primary focus, shifting it from a life long hobby to a professional career. Their work explores themes of cultural identity, memory, loss, grief, love, and mental health. Often incorporating abstraction, portraiture, and movement-based mark-making, their paintings examine the complexities of human connection and emotional experience. Their work has been exhibited in Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Calgary.
They currently tattoo at The Burrow, a private studio in Calgary’s Beltline district.
